Hi Friends!
We’ve had a great year with the Speakeasy Revue thus far. Thanks to all of you for making it so.
Last week we had the pleasure of having New Orleans’ own Paul Sanchez bring the house down with his timeless stories and songs (highlight: when telling a story about working with Dr. John….Aaron Neville comes on the radio to which Mac responds “Aaron Neville…. Maaaan, he fries my assss”).
Next week, Monday March 28th we’re pleased to have Alex McMurray returning to the Revue. He’s truly one of New Orleans biggest creative talents, both as a songwriter and musician (if you haven’t seen him solo, you’ve almost certainly seen him in one of his dozen bands, including The Tin Men & Happy Talk Band).
The show will be from 7-10pm and we’ll be swapping out sets (2 each). Located at Three Muses (536 Frenchmen St, New Orleans, LA). There is no cover. Arrive early (or very late) for seats!

Greetings Friends!
Hope this finds you off to a fantastic 2011. We are so pleased that the NOSSR has been such a success since it began in October. In the new year we will be expanding our reach and branching out to new venues throughout New Orleans. We’re also in the process of planning some great networking events to further educate and connect the songwriting community of New Orleans with industry and publishing professionals around the country.
From now through May, instead of every Monday at The Three Muses, we will be hosting the Revue at this location two Mondays each month. Same time, 7-10pm. Check the calendar at http://www.NewOrleansSongwritersRevue.com for details. In the upcoming months we will begin booking more REVUES at new locations throughout New Orleans. If you have any suggestions for intimate venues or private residences to host a show, we’d love to hear from you.
Please be sure to join our newsletter (via the website) and follow us on twitter and facebook for updates on artists, events and exclusives we will offer to our loyal supporters.
This week we kick off the new year of the series and TONIGHT, MONDAY JANUARY 3rd, we will feature Andrew Duhon, Craig Paddock & Kristin Diable. All artists are building their careers from New Orleans and are on the rise with regular performances throughout the gulf coast as well as upcoming performances at French Quarter Festival, JazzFest and more.
Be sure to arrive early for seats. The Three Muses is lcoated at 536 Frenchmen St, New Orleans, LA (right next to The Blue Nile). Each artist will perform two sets, so no matter what time you arrive, you should be able to hear each artist. The show is from 7-10pm and there is no cover.

RICHARD JULIAN
“One of the best songwriters and record makers I’ve heard in a very long time.”
Randy Newman
“Richard just knocks me out. Some of the coolest, smartest and original music I’ve heard in years.”
Bonnie Raitt
“My favorite collection of songs by one of my favorite songwriters.”
Norah Jones
Girls Need Attention, Richard Julian’s new album, is a musical atonement: vulnerable, honest, funny, and painfully direct as it chronicles an ill-fated love affair. “I don’t know how to not write confessionally… the songs always feel like a shopping cart that veers in that direction no matter which way I try to steer it.” This, Julian’s Compass Records debut and first album since 2008’s Sunday Morning in Saturday’s Shoes, still serves up the occasional helping of his razor-sharp wit but ultimately reveals the singer at his most emotionally-charged. “This is by far the most raw I’ve ever been on an album,” says Julian, and his uncloaked narration is served well by lean and elegant arrangements.
Recorded at Norah Jones’s home studio,Girls Need Attention features stellar accompaniment from Nels Cline (Wilco) on guitar, Jolie Holland on box fiddle, and Sasha Dobson on vocals. The backing band, who was “essentially paid in fine tequila”, says Julian, a self-professed food and drink aficionado, contains such luminaries as Lee Alexander (who also produced the album), Tim Luntzel (bass) and Dan Rieser (drums), and is sparingly augmented throughout with keyboards (Dred Scott), baritone guitar, (Steve Elliot) french horn (Louis Schwadron), tuba (Marcus Rojas), and bass clarinet (Doug Wieselman). This star-studded cast is nothing out of the ordinary for Julian, who has spent the last few years touring with the likes of Norah Jones, Bonnie Raitt, Josh Ritter, Roseanne Cash, and Suzanne Vega.
ROSITA KESS
KRISTIN DIABLE
“There’s a young woman out of south Louisiana who has got some serious chops, a peroxide, leggy crooner with a soul like Lucinda Williams, the confidence of Grace Slick and the voice of a decades-ago Bonnie Raitt….. It was Kristin Diable. Devil in a white dress. Biggest thing out of Baton Rouge since rush hour.” - JAZZFEST 2010 review, Chris Rose.

MICHELLE LEWIS

If you hear Michelle’s music before you meet her, you might be surprised at her exuberance. Her songs throw you against a wall. They kick you out of the house and walk around naked. They call up to heaven. They crumble at your feet.
At first, it doesn’t add up.
JACOB JONES

“Jacob’s brand of whiskey-fueled, hangover loomin’ country tunes (chased with rock and roll roots) makes for a raucous good time at his live show and supreme listening on his new self-released LP.” - American songwriter

“Happy Talk Band frontman Luke Allen is known for his trenchant eye for life in New Orleans’ bottom-of-the-bottle bohemia. The band’s two albums, Total Death Benefit and There, There are often wrenchingly intimate, beautifully sketched portraits of downtown life. Of course, he’s honed his craft: Allen has been playing in town for nearly 11 years, and for most of that time, he’s been serving drinks until the wee hours at places like Café Angeli, the Abbey, the Circle Bar and Mimi’s in the Marigny.” - GAMBIT
